(Veterinary Surgeon – PhD – Dip. ECEIM)
In 1999 Dominique graduated as a veterinary surgeon at Ghent University. Immediately after graduation, she worked as a veterinary surgeon, researcher and teacher at the department Large Animal Internal Medicine. In 2001 she was a co-founder of the Equine CardioTeam at Ghent University and in 2008 she graduated as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (PhD) In 2012, she succeeded the exam and became a Diplomat - European Equine Internist Specialist (EBVS – Diplomat ECEIM), subsequently, she became the Head of the Clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University. She trained veterinary students but also residents (Equine internal Medicine-ECEIM) and visiting residents for different colleges (Equine Internal Medicine-ECEIM, medical imaging-ECVDI and Veterinary sport and rehabilitation-ECVSMR). Since 2017, Dominique became an active member of the Education and Credentials Committee of the European college of Equine Internal Medicine and since 2018 she is the Chair(wo)man. Dominique is author (co-author) of multiple publications and gave many presentations at national and international congresses (publications) In May 2019 she started to work as part-time independent veterinarian and since the end of 2019 she works as a fulltime freelance consultant Equine internist specialist. Since the end of 2019 Dominique leads the Internal Medicine department at Via Nova.
