Day 1

10 a.m. – 11 a.m Welcome at Via Nova

  • How to perform a comprehensive clinical assessment of a poorly performing horse – ‘reading the horse’

12.30 – 13.15 Practical

  • Clinical assessment of a horse at rest, in hand, on the lunge and ridden

13.15 – 14.15 Lunch

  • Sandwiches – fresh fruit – coffee – tea – soft drinks

14.15 – 15.15 Lecture

  • Competition horses, performance and the Ridden Horse Pain Ethogram: how we can identify horses whose performance could be improved

15.15 – 17.30 Interactive video-based Case discussions

  • Clinical case examples reflecting investigation of poor performance

Day 2

  • Neck- related forelimb lameness

11.00 am – 11.30 am Short break

  • Rider size and influence on performance

12.30 – 13.15 Practical

  • Looking at a horse at rest, in hand, on the lunge & ridden

  • What is the significance of equine behaviour during tacking-up and mounting?
